Annapolis Baygrass will host top local and nationally touring bands, as well as artists-at-large, across two alternating stages. Since its inception, Baygrass has delivered some of the best festival lineups in the country, and attendees can be assured 2025 will be better than ever. Past lineups have included: Oteil & Friends, The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush, Yonder Mountain String Band, Railroad Earth, Keller & The Keels, Melvin Seals & JGB, Railroad Earth, Fruition, Cabinet, Kitchen Dwellers, Sierra Hull, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Cris Jacobs & Friends, The Dirty Grass Players, The Baygrass House Band Geraldine, as well as Artists at large: Lindsay Lou (2023), The BayBrass Horns (2024): Natalie Cressman, Ron Holloway, and Jennifer Hartswick, and more!

“The Baygrass selection process sets a goal to foster one-of-a-kind artist collaborations and a unique mix of music to provide excitement for multiple demographics. Our goal is to make it as fun and unique for the artists as it is for our amazing Baygrassers,” says Thom Bloom (Director of Talent & Programming). Bloom and John Way (Baygrass Co-Founder/Chief Operations Officer and owner of The VA Way) have continued to lead the curation of Baygrass lineups with an incredible array of talent to make Baygrass a world-class jam.

“We often state the mantra that ‘Baygrass is more than a music festival’—we purposely designed it that way and proved it last year at our inaugural launch,” says Ron Peremel, Baygrass CEO/Founder. “This year that concept really came to life in a big way. The incredible music we had on our lineup connected the audience with the causes that Baygrass is passionate about, and magically the attendees and the artists came away with knowledge and appreciation for Bay conservation, sustainability, and mental wellness. They learned that a portion of every dollar they spend on tickets, drinks, oysters, and Baygrass merchandise goes to our three Bay Conservation non-profit beneficiary partners who do the work on the ground and in the water—Watershed Stewards Academy, Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Baygrass raised over $32,000 for donations in 2024. This is what we mean by ‘Every Jam Saves the Bay.’”

“Baygrass organizers, volunteers, musicians, and attendees are taking a lead in sustainable festivation (a term coined by Planet Bluegrass). People have recognized our festival as one of the cleanest and greenest festivals in the country,” says Baygrass Co-Founder Ron Katz. “We had people coming from all over, including 32 states, plus Ontario and Montreal, Canada, to attend this beachfront festival in Annapolis, Maryland. We successfully raised awareness about the importance of Chesapeake Bay conservation, mental health, and achieved our goal of an environmentally responsible music festival that spreads the love of jam music while stopping the spread of plastic in the environment.”

Walter Wright, the Baygrass Environmental Director, says “Baygrass focuses on compost collection and waste reduction by virtually eliminating single use plastics. Baygrass provided filtered water stations and there was no selling of single use plastics. Over the weekend, Baygrass reduced the use of what would have been around 8,000 plastic water bottles (this number is based on tracking the liters of water dispensed). Over 14,000 beers were sold without one plastic cup! Reusable metal cups were offered for beverages—a commemorative steel cup and an aluminum option.”

Wright, who worked with a large volunteer green team, says, “Baygrass provided at-the-source sorting of compost, recycling and trash, including separate oyster shell collection and replanting in the bay (over 18,000 shells collected) with volunteers to educate/inform attendees and reduce contamination. Attendees received information about greening in advance to encourage them to bring reusable water bottle, carpool or use the Baygrass shuttle from hotels and campgrounds.”

Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival looks forward to returning to Sandy Point State Park September 20 and 21, 2025 as we continue to save the bay, and our minds, with more magical Baygrass lineups! The Buzz About Baygrass:

“… this communal enthusiasm, which had been palpable all weekend, was the driving force behind what is rapidly becoming Maryland’s premier live-music event.” —Glide Magazine, Dave Goodwich

“This year’s festival was even bigger and better than last year. Imagine standing on the sandy beach at Sandy Point State Park, feeling the breeze off the water, and watching the huge Bay Bridge stretch across the water while incredible musicians played their hearts out on stage. Kids splashed in the bay, families spread out picnic blankets, and the smell of delicious crab cakes filled the air.” —Park Life DC, Dan Rozman

“Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival 2024 proved that the musicians on the lineup, saving the bay, and supporting each other are all a great formula for continuing this end-of-summer festival by the water and that it will inevitably grow, inviting more fans from all over the country for its next iteration.” —DC Music Review, Karin McLaughlin

Baygrass is a destination festival for many – and, for many, it is also an East Coast Homecoming.”—Festy GoNuts, Jason Law

“Baygrass! What a great festival site, lineup and great great crew that make it all happen. This one’s gonna be around a long time. Yay to the state of Maryland for doing good things on their state parks. Oh, and Oteil’s set was sooooo good!” —Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon

“This year’s Baygrass Music Festival was a bona fide HOOT!  Everything about it – the very attentive and friendly staff made us feel at home…The location of the festival is absolutely beautiful! Getting to do what I love as my profession—and getting to do it alongside the super talented duo of Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet and vocals) and Natalie Cressman (trombone and vocals)—elevated the whole experience to musical nirvana for me! It was so much fun, I was expecting to get arrested at any moment!” —Ron Holloway

“They really know how to throw a top notch event there and it’s so much fun! When we step out on stage, the crowd energy is electric and the love is very reciprocal. We hope to keep coming back for many years!” —Jeremy Garrett, Infamous Stringdusters
